Job Role:

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, hardworking, forward-thinking practitioner to become an important member of West Ham United Academy’s Football Science & Medicine Department and join an experienced multi-disciplinary team for the 2022/23 season.

 
 
 

The Role:

 

*         Be a key member of multiple age group MDT’s and collaborate with relevant staff upon the delivery of Physical Development (on & off pitch) to U9-U14 age groups on a whole squad and individual player basis

*         Work in partnership with the relevant Phase Lead to ensure a collaborative approach to session design and delivery which achieves both technical/tactical and physical outcomes.

*         Work closely with other YDP physical development staff to ensure that YDP players are transitioning into the next phase with the appropriate level of physical capabilities to thrive within that programme.

*         Support in the planning and lead in the delivery/reporting of physical profiling to relevant age groups (U9-14)

*         Provide matchday physical performance support to relevant age groups (U12-U14)

*         Lead & assist in delivery of relevant age group gym based physical development sessions in line with academy Physical Development pathway & curriculum (U12-U14)

*         Lead & assist in delivery of relevant age group pitch based physical development sessions in line with academy Physical Development pathway & curriculum (U2-U14)

*         In collaboration with lead YDP physical development coach implement individualised growth and maturation support in line with department methodology

*         Work in collaboration with YDP physiotherapists to effectively provide return to play strategies for injured players

*         To support in the collecting, capturing, analysis and interpretation of data to inform physical development prescription and communicate these findings within the relevant MDT

*         Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with all players, including training load markers where deemed appropriate at specific age groups

*         To undertake duties & tasks as directed by lead YDP/FP Physical Development Coach

*         Actively contribute to a department internal CPD programme

*         Continually evolve and develop the physical development pathway in line with current research, guidelines and practice

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Essential

 

*         BSc Sports Science/Strength & Conditioning (or other relevant disciplines)

*         Experience of working with elite junior athletes as individuals and in a team setting

*         Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with MDT, players and parents

*         The ability to demonstrate good session planning and strong organisation skills

*         Willingness to work evenings & weekends and the ability to travel independently

*         Excellent IT skills

 

Desirable

 

*         UKSCA Accreditation (Or currently working towards)

*         Experience working in Academy football

*         Experience using Excel, Power Point and Catapult (GPS)

*         FA Emergency First Aid In Football

*         Sound understanding of growth & maturation and its implications on the development of young athletes

*         Experience working in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team

*         Experience collecting physical performance data
