Job summary

 

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our WSL Academy for a hard working & enthusiastic Sports Therapist/Physiotherapist to provide a high level of medical support as required to the WNL academy players. This will involve pitchside injury management, treatment and rehabilitation of injured players within the WNL academy group.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

*       Provide pitchside medical care to Academy players as directed by Lead Academy Physiotherapist.

*       Communicate / report any case management to on our WPS medical system.

*       Connect with MDT members around any ongoing rehabilitation for players, incl their return to play strategy.

*       At the request of, and in agreement with Lead Physiotherapist, or Head Medicine, you may provide sessional clinic cover for the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injured Academy Players.

*       At the request of, and in agreement with Lead Physiotherapist, or Head of Medicine, you may be involved in the medical screening of Academy Players.

*       If requested by FT staff, you should provide SOAP format medical notes to be uploaded to WPS in case of a significant injury or event.

*       Attend all department led CPD sessions over the course of a season.

*       Maintain knowledge and skills in line with ITMMIF or equivalent/or above to complete and pass competency assessments over the course of a season.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas: - Essential (E) Desirable (D)

 

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

*       Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or other  equivalent. (E)

*       Accreditation or membership with relevant governing body (CSP, HCPC, SST, BASRAT) (E)

*       Minimum Pitchside qualification FA L4 ITMMIF (E)

*       Experience of pitch side medical cover in an elite sports setting. (E)

*       Experience of MSK/sports injury assessment, treatment & rehabilitation. (D)

*       FA L5 ATMMIF (D)

 

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

*       Excellent written and verbal communication skills (E)

*       Ability to work collaboratively with players, their parents and staff members to ensure the best medical care is provided to academy players (E)

*       Keen interest and demonstration of knowledge of recent advances in sports medicine/MSK injury treatment and management  (E)

*       Flexibility with work hours and site locations as necessary for the role. (E)

*       A full, clean UK driver’s license with access a vehicle. (D)

*       Flexibility around busy periods for tournament cover, for example school easter holidays (D)
