Job Purpose:

 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Chartered Physiotherapist to become an important member of West Ham United Football Medicine Department and join an experienced multi-disciplinary team ahead of the 2022/23 season.

 

The role will provide optimal injury prevention and rehabilitation strategies for first team squad players and assist with pitch side emergency care duties

 
 
 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

-          Working as part of the first team medical team department in the holistic assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all injuries sustained by the professional players

-          Where appropriate, lead on certain cases involving areas of expertise or suitability, as directed by the Head of Medical

-          To liaise comprehensively with the relevant members of the medical and sport science team regarding the well-being of the players in order to ensure optimum care

-          To attend and contribute to the daily morning medical meeting

-          To help design and implement injury prevention strategies for the professional players both as a team and individually

-          To design and implement strategies on improving and maximizing player availability and performance on the football field from a medical perspective

-          To assist at first team matches where appropriate, involving training camps, pre-season trips and all competitive games home and away as directed by the Head of Medical

-          To report all injuries sustained to professional players and general concerns to the Head of Medical Services as soon as possible and regularly provide updates on all player’s rehabilitation progress

-          When required, to take players to and from any consultations with surgeons, medical personnel, radiology or any other appointment requested by the Head of Medical

-          To be part of the off-season medical rota for the professional playing squad to ensure continuity of treatment

-          To be responsible for the preparation and regular updating of comprehensive medical records for all professional players with whom they have had contact, ensuring that these records remain confidential at all times and comply with GDPR legislation

-          To undertake training and development courses to update skills and maintain CSP/HCPC registration

-          To participate and contribute to any in service training and journal discussions

-          Keep an active role in the development of the department through awareness of latest methods, theory, practice and technology that may aid in improving the holistic care provided to the players.

*       Member of the CSP and HCPC (E)

*       Current ATMMiF pitch side trauma management qualification (E)

*       MSc level qualification in associated field (D)

*       Acupuncture training with AACP accreditation (D)
